Love story:

Juhan and Rochelle both studied at the North West University in Potchefstroom. Somehow, they didn’t meet each other during their 4 years at the University. Coincidentally, both Juhan and Rochelle moved to Pretoria after their studies to start working. Without their knowledge, they had many mutual friends and followed each other on social media, specifically Instagram. Rochelle decided to take the first leap of faith and sent Juhan a message on Instagram after he had posted a romantic quote which caught her attention. Juhan then took the opportunity to “explore” Rochelle’s Instagram page and saw that she had also moved to Pretoria for work and he decided to ask her out. They then went for lunch at a French restaurant called Lepis Dore Bakery and Bistro situated in Hazelwood, Pretoria and talked for hours on end. They instantly fell deeply in love and started seeing each other very regularly. On 06 November 2022 Juhan and Rochelle went for a romantic picnic date at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens where Juhan asked Rochelle to be his girlfriend. Within a year, on 08 October 2023, Juhan took Rochelle on another romantic picnic date at Rosemary Hill in Pretoria where he asked Rochelle if she would marry him, to which she gladly said yes! Within another year, on 21 September 2024, Juhan and Rochelle got married at a beautiful wedding venue called Smitsfield Wedding Venue situated in Ermelo, South Africa. To this day, Juhan and Rochelle are madly in love!

Another beautiful love story:

It’s 2017, Im rushing through the airport from my grandmother’s house in Bulawayo 🇿🇼. As I reached the queue to check in, I tapped the guy in front of me and asked if this was the line for Johannesburg🇿🇦. He turned around, and standing before me was the hottest guy EVER!! My brain short-circuited for a second, but I somehow managed to hear him say, “Yes.” Turns out we have come from the same street a few houses down!!!

We chatted briefly (great conversation btw) before parting ways in Johannesburg, and to my absolute shock, this man did not ask for my number 📞 . I mean, HOW?! Did I not look cute? Was my travel glow not glowing enough?! ( come to find out later on, I was cute enough he was just in a relationship at that time) 😅 , I hopped on my flight back to the UK 🇬🇧 and just thought it was a passing moment.

Fast forward almost a year later—I’m back in Bulawayo for my great-grandmother’s funeral, stuffing my face with sausage and chips, walking down the street on my way to drinks🍷 , when I spot someone staring into a closed shop window. Wait… was that… HIM?! Hottie from the airport last year! He turned, saw me, and immediately recognized me. This time, he asked for my number! (Damn right! 😂)

We became friends for the next two years (way longer than necessary, if you ask me), then he finally asked me out. Five years later, I was walking down the aisle in the most stunning gown, marrying my bestest friend ever—my homie, my right leg, inhliziyo yami. ❤️

A true Love Story:
They say love finds you when you least expect it, and for me, that moment came in May 2021—at a house party in Cape Town, with curfews looming and masks still very much a thing. I was on holiday, blissfully unaware that I was about to meet my future husband. Enter Matt: charming, easy to talk to, and apparently, terrible at compliments. His first words to me? “You have nice feet.” (He meant teeth, but the damage was done.)

Despite the questionable start, we clicked instantly, bonding over mutual friends and the oddity of never having met before. A month later, I returned to Cape Town for a short visit. But fate—and an unexpected lockdown—had other plans. My brief stay turned into an extended one, and before I knew it, Matt had himself a full-time lockdown buddy. While some relationships crumbled under the pressure, ours thrived. By the end of the year, I packed up and moved to Cape Town for good.

Since then, life has been a whirlwind of adventures, beach days, early-bird jol tickets, and way too many new restaurant discoveries. In August 2022, we added Molly, our four-legged mischief-maker, to the mix.
Looking back, I can’t help but laugh at how it all began—with an accidental foot fetish comment. But hey, if that’s what it took to find my forever, I wouldn’t change a thing.
